It was a bright spring morning in the royal garden. The sun was warm. The flowers were blooming. Tall tulips stood in rows of red, yellow, and pink. Golden daffodils swayed in the breeze. Princess Zoombella clapped her hands and smiled. "It is Easter! Time for the egg hunt!" she said.
Her best friend came rolling down the stone path. Blinky Sparx was a sparkly android who loved puzzles more than anything. His silver body glittered in the sunlight, and his bright blue eyes blinked with joy. "I am ready!" said Blinky Sparx. "Easter egg hunts are like puzzles. You have to look for clues!"
A big wicker basket sat by the bubbling fountain. It had a purple ribbon tied on the handle. Princess Zoombella picked it up and swung it back and forth. "Let's find every egg in the garden!" she said. "I bet there are so many hiding spots!" Blinky Sparx nodded. "Then let's go!"
They searched behind the mossy rocks first. Princess Zoombella peeked behind one big rock. There it was — a bright blue painted egg with white polka dots! "I found one!" she cheered. She placed it gently in the big wicker basket with the purple ribbon. This was going to be easy!
But then the hunt got harder. Princess Zoombella looked under a fern. No egg. She looked inside a hollow log. No egg there, either. She looked behind bush after bush. Nothing! Blinky Sparx found a shiny green egg near the tulips, but Princess Zoombella could not find any more. Her smile began to fade.
"This is so hard!" said Princess Zoombella. She crossed her arms and frowned. "I thought I would find lots of eggs by now." She felt frustrated. It was not as easy as she had hoped. Blinky Sparx rolled closer. His blue eyes blinked softly. "It is okay to feel frustrated," he said. "But I have an idea."
"When a puzzle is tricky, I slow down," said Blinky Sparx. "I take a deep breath. I look very carefully. And I ask a friend for help." Princess Zoombella took a deep breath in and let it out slowly. "Okay," she said. "Let's slow down and work together." Blinky Sparx smiled. "Two sets of eyes are better than one!"
They searched together, step by step. Blinky Sparx pointed to a leafy fern. Princess Zoombella lifted the leaves — a sunny yellow egg with orange stripes! Then Princess Zoombella spotted something behind a mossy rock, and Blinky Sparx reached in to grab a pink egg with gold stars. "We make a great team!" said Princess Zoombella.
Then Princess Zoombella saw something special. Near a hollow log, a tiny baby butterfly was stuck on a branch. Its little wings were caught on a twig. It wiggled and wiggled but could not get free. Right next to the branch was a beautiful purple painted egg with silver swirls. "Oh!" said Princess Zoombella. "The butterfly needs help!"
Princess Zoombella did not grab the egg first. Instead, she cupped her hands gently around the baby butterfly with pale blue and white wings. Slowly, carefully, she lifted the twig away from its wings. The tiny butterfly fluttered free! It landed softly on her finger. "You're okay now, little one," she whispered. Blinky Sparx clapped his silver hands. "You helped it! That was so kind."
Princess Zoombella smiled as the baby butterfly flew away to join the other butterflies dancing above the garden. Then she picked up the purple painted egg with silver swirls and placed it in the big wicker basket with the purple ribbon. "Spring is about more than finding eggs," she said. "It is about being patient and caring for the world around us." Blinky Sparx nodded. "The best discoveries come when you take your time and help others along the way."
The two friends sat side by side on the stone edge of the bubbling fountain. Their big wicker basket with the purple ribbon was full of colorful painted eggs. Butterflies danced above them in the warm spring air. Princess Zoombella leaned back and looked up at the blue sky. "I wonder what else spring will bring," she said softly. Blinky Sparx's blue eyes twinkled. "I don't know," he said. "But I can't wait to find out — together."
