Moonhollow was a magical, misty village where friendly ghosts lived in cozy cottages made of clouds. Silvery cobblestone paths wound between glowing lanterns and little shops run by all sorts of kind creatures. It was a quiet, peaceful place — except when Glimmer Puff was around.
Glimmer Puff was a sparkly, joyful ghost who loved adventures more than anything in the whole wide world. She would zoom through the village each morning, leaving a trail of tiny silver sparkles behind her. "Good morning, Moonhollow!" she would shout, her voice ringing like a happy little bell.
One chilly morning, Glimmer Puff spotted a bright golden sign hanging outside the village shop. It read: "NEW ADVENTURE MAP — TODAY ONLY!" Her whole body flickered with excitement. "An adventure map!" she squealed. "I HAVE to get one before they're all gone!"
Glimmer Puff zoomed to the shop faster than a shooting star. But when she got there, a long line of creatures already stretched down the silvery cobblestone path. A fluffy cat ghost was first. A tall mushroom fellow stood second. A tiny firefly family buzzed in the middle. Everyone waited patiently, chatting and smiling.
"I can't wait that long!" Glimmer Puff huffed. She whooshed right past the firefly family, squeezed around the tall mushroom fellow, and floated straight to the front of the line. "Excuse me, I need a map, please!" she called to the shopkeeper. The fluffy cat ghost blinked in surprise. "But… I was next," she said softly.
Glimmer Puff didn't hear the fluffy cat ghost. She was too busy bouncing up and down. Then the tall mushroom fellow tapped her gently on the shoulder. "Little ghost, we have all been waiting our turn," he said in a deep, kind voice. "When someone cuts in line, it feels like their time matters more than ours." The tiny firefly family nodded, their lights dimming a little with sadness.
Glimmer Puff stopped bouncing. She looked at the fluffy cat ghost's sad face. She looked at the firefly family's dim little lights. A heavy, uncomfortable feeling settled inside her chest — like swallowing a rock. "Oh no," she whispered. "I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings. I was just so excited that I forgot to think about how you all felt."
The old shopkeeper, a round owl with tiny spectacles, leaned over the counter. "Glimmer Puff, being excited is a wonderful thing," she hooted gently. "But when we feel that big rush inside, that's the perfect time to take a deep breath and pause. Being polite means showing others that you respect them — that their feelings matter just as much as yours."
Glimmer Puff floated slowly to the very back of the line. "I'm really sorry, everyone," she said, loud enough for all to hear. "I should have waited my turn." The fluffy cat ghost smiled. "Thank you, Glimmer Puff. That was brave of you to say." And something surprising happened — waiting didn't feel so bad after all.
While she waited, Glimmer Puff chatted with a little hedgehog ghost behind her. They talked about their favorite trails and the spookiest caves in Moonhollow. They laughed so hard that Glimmer Puff's sparkles turned bright pink. "This is actually really fun!" she giggled. "I almost missed out on making a new friend because I was in such a hurry."
When Glimmer Puff finally reached the front of the line, the old owl shopkeeper handed her a rolled-up golden parchment map tied with a red ribbon. "One adventure map for a very patient ghost," the owl said with a wink. Glimmer Puff held it carefully, and her whole body glowed warm and bright. The wait had made this moment feel extra special — like unwrapping the best gift ever.
Glimmer Puff floated outside and unrolled her golden map under a glowing lantern. The little hedgehog ghost peeked over her shoulder. "Want to go on the adventure together?" Glimmer Puff asked. "Yes, please!" the hedgehog squeaked. As they set off down the silvery cobblestone path, Glimmer Puff smiled to herself. She knew that next time that big rush of excitement bubbled up inside her, she would take a deep breath, be patient, and see what wonderful things the waiting might bring.
