Grace loved to dance more than anything in the whole wide world. Every single day, she twirled and bounced and wiggled her tiny feet across the bedroom floor. Her cozy room was her favorite stage, with glow-in-the-dark stars covering the ceiling and a big, colorful poster of the solar system hanging on the wall.
But there was one move that Grace just could not get right — the spin. Every time she tried to twirl around in a circle, her feet got tangled up and DOWN she went, tumbling right onto her bottom. "Oof!" she said, frowning at the floor. She tried again. And again. But every single time, she toppled over like a wobbly top.
"I will NEVER be able to spin," Grace said with a big, heavy sigh. Her eyes stung a little, and her lip wobbled. She flopped onto her soft bed and pulled her blanket up to her chin. The glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling twinkled above her like tiny night-lights. Grace stared up at them and whispered, "I wish I could dance with the stars."
Grace's eyes slowly closed, and something magical happened. She felt her body float up, up, UP — right through the ceiling and past the clouds and into the dark, sparkling sky. When she opened her eyes, she gasped. She was standing on something that shimmered and crunched beneath her feet, like a glittering, icy path stretching out in every direction.
Below her feet, a giant golden planet spun slowly, wrapped in beautiful bands of amber and cream. "That's Saturn!" Grace whispered, remembering the poster on her bedroom wall. She was standing right inside Saturn's famous rings! The rings sparkled all around her, made of billions and billions of tiny pieces of ice and rock, all swirling together in a giant, glowing circle around the planet.
"Pretty cool, right?" said a bright little voice. Grace spun around and saw a small, glowing star bouncing toward her. It had a warm golden glow and a friendly, twinkling smile. "I'm Sol!" said the little star, doing a happy little spin. "Welcome to Saturn's rings, Grace! I've been waiting for a dancer like you!"
"A dancer?" Grace said sadly, looking down at her feet. "I'm not a very good dancer. I keep falling down when I try to spin." Sol floated closer and glowed a little brighter. "Did you know that even Saturn wobbles?" Sol asked. "It's true! Saturn tilts and wobbles as it moves through space. And it is the second biggest planet in our whole solar system! If a giant planet can wobble, then so can you."
Grace giggled a little at that. Sol bounced excitedly. "Watch the ice and rock in these rings," Sol said. "Billions of tiny pieces, all moving together. Some bump into each other. Some drift apart. But they never stop moving, and together they make something beautiful." Grace looked around at the glittering, swirling ring and felt her heart beat faster. It really was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen.
"Now, let's try something," Sol said gently. "When you feel frustrated, take a deep breath. Fill your belly up like a big balloon, then let it all out slowly." Grace closed her eyes and breathed in deep. Her belly puffed out. Then she blew the air out nice and slow. She felt her whole body relax, like warm sunshine was filling her up from her toes to her nose.
"Now try your spin," Sol said. "And if you need help, just ask! That's what friends are for." Grace stretched out her arms and pushed off with one foot. She wobbled. She tilted. But Sol zoomed underneath her hand like a tiny, glowing guide. "I've got you!" Sol said. Grace spun once — all the way around — and she did NOT fall down! "I DID IT!" she shouted, and her voice echoed across the rings of Saturn.
Sol twinkled proudly. "See? Falling down is just part of learning something new. Every dancer falls. Every planet wobbles. The important thing is that you take a breath, keep trying, and let someone help you when you need it." Grace danced and spun across the glittering rings, leaping over icy chunks and twirling through sparkling cosmic dust, laughing the whole way. She had never felt so free.
When Grace opened her eyes, warm morning sunlight was streaming through her window. She was back in her cozy bed, with her blanket tucked around her. She looked up at the glow-in-the-dark stars on her ceiling and smiled a brave, starry smile. Then she climbed out of bed, planted her feet on the floor, and stretched out her arms. "Okay, feet," she whispered. "Let's try again."
