Leo's Big Lunar Leap!

A story about

for your 2nd Grader.

A vast field of golden sunflowers towering under a bright blue sky. Endless rows of tall sunflowers

Once upon a time, under a giant field of golden sunflowers, there lived a little grasshopper named Leo. Leo wasn’t like the other grasshoppers who loved hopping from leaf to leaf. Leo dreamed of something much bigger. He wanted to jump all the way... to the Moon!

Leo the grasshopper lying peacefully on a large dandelion leaf, gazing up at the starry night sky. A sky full of twinkling stars

Every night, Leo would lie on a dandelion leaf, staring up at the stars. "The Moon looks so close," he said. "If I just jump high enough, maybe... just maybe... I can touch it!"

Penny the ladybug giggling while perched on a leafy vine. A few nearby laughing grasshoppers

His friends thought he was silly. "No one can hop that high!" giggled Penny the ladybug. "That's impossible!" buzzed Gus the firefly. But Leo just smiled. "Nothing is impossible if you try."

A peculiar, dusty machine with long springs and a silver helmet resting in an old shed. Shadows of cobwebs and rusty tools

One sunny afternoon, while exploring an old, creaky shed near the field, Leo found something amazing: A dusty, strange machine with long springs and a silver helmet.

the firefly blinking his glow light, the ladybug is excited. The grasshopper looks on curiously!

"What is it?" asked Penny, fluttering her tiny wings. "It’s a Moon Hopper!" Leo cried. "How do you know?" asked Gus, blinking his glow light. "Because it says so right here," Leo said, pointing to a rusty label: MOON HOPPER 1.0

Leo the grasshopper, full of excitement, standing next to the dusty machine as sunlight streams in. Sunbeams filtering through broken shed roof

Leo's heart raced with excitement. "This is it! This is how we’ll reach the Moon!" Penny and Gus weren't so sure. "It looks... broken," Penny said. "And dusty," Gus added.

Leo diligently polishing a silver helmet to a shine, with various tools scattered around. Old machine parts and scattered nuts and bolts

But Leo didn’t give up. He brushed off the dust, tightened the springs, polished the helmet, and adjusted the straps. "This Moon Hopper just needs a little love!"

A shiny full moon sitting high in the night sky. Glowing stars and dark sky

That night, under a bright full Moon, Leo pulled on the helmet, strapped into the Moon Hopper, and looked at his friends. "Ready?" "Ready!" said Penny (with a little gulp). "I guess…" said Gus, flickering nervously.
