Aisha loved to make up songs. She sang about her cat. She sang about her shoes. She sang about the rain on the roof. Everywhere Aisha went, a song came out.
One morning, Aisha sat at her table in class. She looked around the room. She saw the bright walls and the big rug and the cozy reading corner. "I have an idea!" said Aisha. "I will write a big song about my whole school!"
Aisha picked up her pencil and began to think. She watched her teacher help a friend sound out a big word. Her teacher was kind and patient. "You can do it," her teacher said softly. "Try one more time."
Aisha smiled and wrote in her little red notebook: "Our teacher helps us learn and grow, she shows us things we didn't know!" That was a good start! But Aisha wanted more.
At lunchtime, Aisha walked to the cafeteria. The lunch helper gave her a warm tray and a big smile. "Eat up!" the lunch helper said. "Good food helps your brain think!" Aisha thought about that. The lunch helper kept everyone strong and ready to learn.
After lunch, Aisha visited the library. It was quiet and full of books—big books, small books, and books with pictures of faraway places. The librarian helped Aisha find a book about birds. "Books can take you anywhere," the librarian whispered with a wink.
Aisha wrote more in her little red notebook: "The lunch helper feeds us every day, the librarian reads books our way!" Her song was getting bigger. But it still didn't feel finished.
When the bell rang, Aisha ran outside to the playground. The sun was warm. Kids were everywhere—on the swings, down the slides, and running in the big grassy field. Aisha wanted to write about all of them. But there were so many! She sat on a bench and frowned.
"What's wrong, Aisha?" asked a friend. "I am writing a song about our school," Aisha said. "But I can't find the right words for the end. There are so many people who help and so many friends who matter." Her friend sat down next to her. "Maybe we can help!" he said.
Soon, more friends came over. "I am good at sharing," said one friend. "I am good at making people laugh," said another. "I like to help when someone falls down," said one more. Everyone had something special to give. Aisha's eyes grew wide. "That's it!" she said. "The best songs are the ones we write together!"
Aisha and her friends sat together in the grass. They each added a line to the song. They laughed. They clapped. They tried silly rhymes and serious ones too. Word by word, the song grew bigger and better—because it came from all of them.
The next morning, Aisha stood in front of the whole class. She took a deep breath and began to sing. Her friends joined in, one by one. The song was about teachers and helpers, books and lunchtime, sharing and laughing—and most of all, about being together. It was the best song Aisha ever made, because she didn't make it alone.
