This is Mei. Mei has a big sketchbook. She picks up a crayon. What will Mei draw?
Mei draws a circle. Round and round. She colors it yellow. It is a sun! "Sun!" says Mei. Can you say it? Sun!
The sun jumps off the page! It floats up, up, up. It is warm and bright. "Sun!" says Mei again. Sun!
Now Mei draws something round and red. It is a ball! A big, red ball. "Ball!" says Mei. Can you say it? Ball!
Boing! The ball bounces off the page! Up and down it goes. Up! Down! Up! Down! "Ball!" says Mei. Ball!
Mei picks up a new crayon. She draws a happy face. Two eyes. A big smile. It is Mama! "Mama!" says Mei. Can you say it? Mama!
Mama comes to life! She gives Mei a big hug. "Mama!" says Mei. "Mama! Mama!" Hugs are the best.
Mei draws a blue sky on a new page. So big! So blue! She draws a bird going up. "Up!" And a leaf coming down. "Down!" Up! Down!
Now Mei wants to draw a star. She picks up her yellow crayon. She presses hard. Oh no! Snap! The crayon breaks! "Oh!" says Mei.
Mei is sad. But then she has an idea! She puts down the broken crayon. She holds up her finger. She can draw with her finger!
Mei traces a star on the page with her finger. One, two, three, four, five points. And look! The star lights up! Sparkle, sparkle, sparkle! The whole page glows!
The star shines on the sun, the ball, the mama, and the blue sky. Everything glows. Mei hugs her sketchbook tight. "Love!" says Mei. Can you say it? Love! Love! Love!
