The sun peeked through the window. It was morning! Priya sat up in bed and stretched her arms wide. "Today," she said, "I will get ready all by myself!"
Priya hopped out of bed. Hop, hop, hop! Her bare feet patted the warm floor. She looked around her bright room. "First things first," she said. "I need to brush my teeth!"
Priya walked into the bubbly bathroom. She picked up her sparkly toothbrush. But oh no! The toothpaste was tricky. She squeezed too hard and—SPLAT! A big blob plopped onto the sink.
Priya did not give up. "This is just like a puzzle," she said. "I need to squeeze gently." She tried again—slow and steady. A tiny, perfect swirl landed right on her sparkly toothbrush. "I did it!" she cheered.
Brush, brush, brush! Priya brushed her teeth up and down, round and round. She rinsed and smiled at the mirror. Her teeth sparkled like tiny stars. "Clean teeth! Check!" she said.
Next, Priya needed to get dressed. She opened her closet and looked inside. So many colors! Red shirts, blue pants, yellow socks, and green skirts. "Hmm," she said. "What goes together?"
Priya thought hard. She picked a bright red shirt and blue pants. But wait—her socks! One was yellow and one was green. "That does not match," she giggled. She looked again and found two yellow socks. "Now THAT matches!"
Priya pulled on her clothes all by herself. She tugged the shirt over her head—whoosh! She pulled up her pants—zip! She slipped on her two matching yellow socks. "Getting dressed! Check!" she said proudly.
Now for the last puzzle. Priya found her little backpack hanging by the front door. "What do I need to pack?" she wondered. She tapped her chin and thought very hard.
"I need my water bottle to drink," she said. She put it in. "I need my snack to eat." She tucked it in. "And I need my favorite book to read!" She slid it right inside. "Packing my bag! Check!"
Priya put on her little backpack and stood tall. She looked back at her bright, cozy home. She had brushed her teeth, picked her clothes, and packed her bag. Every step was a puzzle, and she had solved them all!
Priya swung open the front door. The warm sun kissed her face. She took a big, brave step outside and smiled the biggest smile. "I did it ALL by myself!" she cheered. And she really, truly did.
