Jamal sitting at a small wooden table in the corner of a bright, cozy classroom, smiling calmly as he looks down at a chessboard with black and white pieces on it. He is resting his chin on one hand, thinking. In the background, a colorful classroom with posters on the walls, sunny windows, and a round rug on the floor.

Jamal loved quiet afternoons at school. He liked to sit at his little table in the corner and play chess with his friends. He would think and think before moving each piece. "Your turn!" Jamal would say with a smile.

Jamal holding up a white knight chess piece in one hand, showing it to the viewer with a bright, eager expression on his face, sitting at the small wooden table with the chessboard in front of him. In the background, the cozy classroom corner with colorful posters and a sunny window.

Jamal knew that chess has rules. Each piece moves in its own special way. The knight hops in an L-shape. The rook slides in a straight line. "If we don't follow the rules," Jamal said, "the game doesn't work!"

A wide view of the bright, cozy classroom with kids sitting on the round rug. Jamal sits cross-legged among his classmates, looking happy and calm. The teacher stands near the rug, gesturing excitedly. In the background, colorful posters on the walls and sunny windows looking out onto a playground with swings and slides.

One morning, the classroom was buzzing with fun. Kids sat on the round rug for circle time. The teacher said, "Today we will play outside, eat snacks, and do art!" Everyone cheered. It was going to be a great day.

But at snack time, things got wild! The kids were supposed to wait in line, but a boy pushed right to the front. "Me first!" he said. The other kids frowned. "Hey, that's not fair!" they said. No one felt happy.

Jamal walked up to the boy. "In chess, every piece has to wait for its turn," Jamal said calmly. "Even the queen! If she moved whenever she wanted, the game would be a mess." The boy looked at Jamal and thought about it.

The Pushy Boy walking to the back of the snack line with a small, understanding smile. Jamal gives him a thumbs-up from nearby. A girl at the front of the line waves and smiles at the Pushy Boy. In the background, the snack table with cups and crackers in the bright classroom.

"I guess cutting in line isn't fun for everyone else," the boy said softly. He walked to the back of the line. "Thanks for waiting!" said a girl. The boy smiled. Waiting his turn felt good after all.

Then, out on the playground, a girl grabbed a ball right out of another kid's hands. "Give it back!" the kid cried. The girl held the ball tight. "I want it NOW!" she said. The playground got loud and chaotic—that means wild and mixed up.

The upset child stands nearby wiping a tear. In the background, the sunny playground with swings and slides and blue sky.

Jamal sat on a bench nearby. "In chess, you can't just grab your friend's pieces," he said. "You have to play with respect. That means you care about how the other person feels." The girl stopped and looked at the kid she had upset.

"I'm sorry," the girl said. She handed the ball back gently. "Do you want to play catch with me?" she asked. The kid smiled big. "Yes!" they said. And just like that, two kids who were upset became friends playing together.

Back inside, it was art time. Some kids were being too loud, and paint was splattering everywhere! "This is crazy!" one kid said. Jamal clapped his hands softly. "Let's remember—rules are not here to stop our fun," he said.
