Hana loved to dance. Every morning, she twirled and spun across her cozy kitchen floor. Her bare feet went tap, tap, tap on the warm tiles. "Dancing makes everything better!" said Hana with a big smile.
One magical morning, something amazing happened. Hana did a great big twirl—round and round she went! When she stopped, she looked out the window. "Oh my!" she gasped. The world outside had changed!
Snow! Fluffy, white snow covered everything outside. The hills sparkled like glitter in the sunlight. "It's winter!" cheered Hana. In winter, the Earth gets cold. Some trees lose their leaves, and animals snuggle up to stay warm.
Hana ran back inside. She did a shimmy—shake, shake, shake! Her shoulders wiggled, and her hips swayed. She looked out the window again. The snow was gone! Now bright flowers bloomed everywhere.
"It's spring!" sang Hana. Soft pink and purple flowers bloomed across the garden. Little buds opened up on every branch. In spring, baby animals are born, and rain helps flowers grow. The whole world wakes up!
Back in the kitchen, Hana leaped high into the air. Jump, jump, jump! Her feet left the ground, and she spread her arms like a bird. Outside, the sun grew big and bright and the sky turned deep blue.
"It's summer!" Hana laughed. The meadow buzzed with busy bees. The sun felt warm on her face. In summer, the Earth tilts toward the sun, so the days are long and hot. There is so much time to play!
Hana hurried inside for one more dance. She swirled round and round, slow and smooth, like a leaf floating on the wind. When she peeked outside, orange and red leaves tumbled through the sky!
"It's fall!" said Hana. Leaves of orange, red, and gold swirled in the windy sky. In fall, trees let go of their leaves to get ready for winter. Animals gather food to store away. The air feels cool and crisp.
Hana was so excited that she danced and danced without stopping. She twirled and shimmied and leaped and swirled all at once! But then—oh no! Outside, snowflakes and flowers and sunshine and leaves all mixed together! "The seasons are all jumbled up!" cried Hana.
Hana took a deep breath. "Each season is special," she said. "They each come when they should." She closed her eyes and danced slowly—one step at a time. First a twirl for winter. Then a shimmy for spring. A leap for summer. And a swirl for fall. One by one, the seasons went back in order!
Hana smiled and hugged herself. "Winter, spring, summer, fall—I love them all!" she said. The Earth changes all year long, and every season brings something wonderful. And whenever Hana dances in her kitchen, she remembers the magic of each one.
