Liam is running joyfully down a cobblestone village street, his arms spread wide and mouth open in a big laugh, his sneakers mid-stride. In the background, colorful houses in pink, yellow, and blue line the street, with tall green trees between them under a bright sunny sky.

Liam loved to run fast and laugh loud. He lived on a bright, sunny street with colorful houses and tall green trees. Every day, he would zoom up and down the cobblestone road, giggling the whole way.

Liam is standing in front of his house with one hand cupped behind his ear and the other pointing down the street, his eyes wide with curiosity and excitement. In the background, colorful fluttering banners hang across the cobblestone street between the colorful houses, and swirling confetti drifts through the air.

One morning, Liam heard something new. Boom, boom, boom! Music floated down the street. Drums thumped. Horns tooted. "What is that sound?" said Liam. He jumped up and ran to see.

A parade of marching animals fills the cobblestone street: a striped cat in the lead, followed by a spotted dog, then a fluffy duck, then another striped cat, then another spotted dog, then another fluffy duck, all marching in a line. Fluttering banners hang overhead and swirling confetti falls around them. In the background, colorful houses and tall green trees line both sides of the sunny village street.

A parade! A long line of animals marched down the cobblestone road. Striped cats strutted proudly. Spotted dogs stomped their paws. Fluffy ducks waddled and quacked. Fluttering banners waved above them, and confetti swirled all around.

Liam is standing at the edge of the cobblestone road, pointing at the parade with one hand and counting on his other hand's fingers. In the parade line, a striped cat, a spotted dog, and a fluffy duck march in a row, followed by another striped cat, another spotted dog, and another fluffy duck. In the background, fluttering banners stretch between the colorful houses and swirling confetti fills the sunny sky.

Liam watched the animals march. Cat, dog, duck. Cat, dog, duck. They marched in the same order, over and over again. "Hey!" said Liam. "They are making a pattern! Cat, dog, duck. Cat, dog, duck!"

Liam is marching with exaggerated high steps next to a fluffy duck, both stomping along the cobblestone road. His face shows a huge goofy grin. Ahead of them, a spotted dog and a striped cat march in line. In the background, swirling confetti and fluttering banners decorate the sunny street between colorful houses.

Liam laughed his loud laugh. "Ha ha ha! I want to march too!" He ran to the parade and started stomping his feet. Stomp, stomp, stomp! He marched right alongside the fluffy ducks.

Liam is stopped mid-march, looking ahead with a surprised expression and his mouth shaped like an 'O.' In front of him, a striped cat and a spotted dog march in line, but there is a visible empty gap in the parade line after the spotted dog, with no animal filling the space. In the background, the cobblestone road stretches ahead past colorful houses, with fluttering banners overhead.

But then Liam saw something strange. There was a gap in the parade! After a striped cat and a spotted dog, there was an empty spot. No one was there. The pattern was broken!

Liam is standing still on the cobblestone road, one hand scratching the top of his head and his eyes looking upward as he thinks. Beside him, a striped cat and a spotted dog stand in line with an empty gap after the spotted dog. In the background, tall green trees and colorful houses line the quiet part of the street.

"Oh no!" said Liam. "Someone is missing!" He scratched his head and thought hard. "The pattern goes cat, dog, duck. Cat, dog, duck. There is a cat. There is a dog. So what comes next?"

Liam is jumping with excitement, both arms raised in the air, his mouth wide open shouting. To the side of the cobblestone road, a fluffy duck sits alone on the grass, looking up at Liam with a slightly sad, lost expression. In the background, the parade continues further down the street with striped cats, spotted dogs, and fluffy ducks marching past colorful houses.

"DUCK!" shouted Liam. "A fluffy duck comes next! The pattern tells me so! Cat, dog, DUCK!" He looked around and saw a fluffy duck sitting by the road, looking a little lost.

Liam is walking beside the fluffy duck, gently guiding it with both hands toward the empty gap in the parade line. Just ahead, a striped cat and a spotted dog are marching. The fluffy duck is mid-waddle, looking cheerful with its beak open in a quack. In the background, fluttering banners wave between colorful houses under the bright sunny sky.

"Come on, little duck!" said Liam. "You belong right here!" He gently led the fluffy duck to the empty spot. The duck quacked happily and waddled into place. Cat, dog, duck! The pattern was fixed!

Liam is clapping his hands with a big proud smile. In front of him, the full parade marches in perfect order along the cobblestone road: a striped cat, a spotted dog, a fluffy duck, then another striped cat, another spotted dog, another fluffy duck, then another striped cat, another spotted dog, another fluffy duck. In the background, swirling confetti fills the air and fluttering banners stretch between the colorful houses.

Now the parade was complete! Cat, dog, duck. Cat, dog, duck. Cat, dog, duck. Every animal was in the right place. Liam clapped his hands. "Patterns help you predict what comes next!" he said.

Liam is at the front of the parade, marching with high knees and arms swinging, laughing with his mouth wide open. Behind him, the full line of animals follows in pattern order: a striped cat, a spotted dog, a fluffy duck, another striped cat, another spotted dog, another fluffy duck, all marching happily. In the background, the cobblestone road winds through the village with colorful houses, tall green trees, fluttering banners, and swirling confetti everywhere.

The animals cheered! The striped cats meowed. The spotted dogs barked. The fluffy ducks quacked. They wanted Liam to lead the parade! So Liam marched to the very front, stomping and laughing all the way.

Liam is marching triumphantly at the head of the parade, one arm raised high and a huge goofy grin on his face. The long parade of striped cats, spotted dogs, and fluffy ducks stretches behind him down the cobblestone road, all marching in perfect repeating pattern order. In the background, the entire sunny village street is decorated with fluttering banners, swirling confetti, colorful houses, and tall green trees under a bright blue sky.

Liam led the silly parade all through town. He stomped his feet and laughed his loudest laugh. And whenever he saw a pattern after that—in colors, shapes, or sounds—he always knew what came next. "Cat, dog, duck!" he giggled. "Patterns are everywhere!"
