Kai lived in a cozy little house by the sea. Every morning, the waves said whoooosh. The sand said squish, squish under his toes. Kai loved the ocean more than anything!
But today was different. Today, Kai was going to a new place. A new preschool! Kai looked back at his cozy little house. "Goodbye, house," Kai said softly. His tummy felt wiggly.
Kai walked down the shell-lined path. Crunch, crunch, crunch. He saw the colorful preschool with a big rainbow door. "Hello, preschool!" said a friendly teacher at the door. The door was every color of the rainbow!
Inside, there were blocks and books and big squishy beanbags. Kai smiled a tiny smile. Goodbye, wiggly tummy. Hello, tiny smile! Maybe new could be nice.
At the beach, Kai loved to dig in the warm, salty sand. He loved to splash in the whooshing waves. But now it was time to go inside. "Goodbye, sandy beach," Kai said. He brushed the sand off his hands.
But inside the preschool, something wonderful was waiting. Finger paints! Red, blue, yellow, and green. Squishy and cool and smooth. "Hello, finger painting!" Kai laughed. He made a big, swirly ocean on his paper. Swish, swish, swish!
After painting, Kai played outside with new friends. They ran and jumped and laughed. But then the teacher rang a little bell. Ding, ding, ding! "Time to come in!" "Goodbye, outside play," Kai said.
But inside, the teacher had a surprise. Story time! She read a book about a little fish who rode the waves. Kai's eyes got big and round. "Hello, story time!" he whispered. He could almost smell the salty sea.
The sun turned orange and pink. It was time to go home. "Goodbye, preschool," Kai said. He waved at the big rainbow door. But guess what? He was already excited to come back!
At home, Kai wanted to splash in the waves one more time. But the sky was getting dark. "Goodbye, splashing waves," Kai said. The waves seemed to wave back. Whoooosh!
But inside his cozy little house, something warm was waiting. A fluffy towel. Soft pajamas. A snuggly blanket that smelled like sunshine. "Hello, bedtime," Kai yawned. He felt warm and safe and sleepy.
Kai closed his eyes. Every goodbye is like a wave rolling out. And every hello is a new wave coming in. Goodbye, today. Hello, tomorrow. What new hello will YOU find?
