Ezra loved books. He loved reading under his big tree. But today, Ezra was very, very muddy! Mud on his hands. Mud on his knees. And a big glob of mud on his elbow. "Bath time, Ezra!" called a warm voice.
Ezra stepped onto his little stool and looked in the shiny mirror. Star stickers twinkled back at him. Then—SQUEAK! Something moved in the tub. "Who is there?" asked Ezra.
A little yellow rubber duck popped up from the bubbles. "Hi! I am Ducky!" she giggled. POP! A purple soap bar slid across the tub edge. "And I am Sudsy!" he sang. BOING! A bright green toothbrush bounced on the counter. "I am Bristle!" she laughed. "We are… The Clean Team!"
"The Clean Team?" said Ezra. "What do you do?" Ducky quacked. "We splash away germs!" Sudsy sang. "We scrub away dirt!" Bristle bounced. "We brush away yuck!" "Ready, Ezra?" they all cheered. Ezra smiled. "Ready!"
First stop—the sink! "Wash your hands, wash your hands!" sang Sudsy. Ezra rubbed Sudsy between his fingers. Squish, squish, squish! The soap was slippery and smelled like sweet berries. Bubbles popped and tickled his palms. "Scrub, scrub, scrub!" sang Sudsy. "Germs, go away!"
Splish, splash! Water washed the bubbles away. Ezra's hands were pink and clean. "Bye-bye, germs!" said Ezra. "Hooray!" cheered Ducky. "Clean hands are happy hands!" Can you show me YOUR clean hands?
Next stop—teeth! "My turn! My turn!" giggled Bristle. Ezra squeezed a tiny dot of paste on Bristle. It was white and minty. Brush, brush, brush—up and down! Brush, brush, brush—all around! Bristle hummed a happy song. Ezra's teeth went sparkle, sparkle, sparkle!
Now—tub time! Ezra climbed into the warm, bubbly water. "Ooooh, so warm!" said Ezra. Ducky bobbed beside him. SQUEAK, SQUEAK! Sudsy made mountains of fluffy white bubbles. They smelled like sweet berries. Ezra scrubbed his knees. Clean! He scrubbed his toes. Clean! But wait…
That big, stubborn mud spot was STILL on his elbow! Ezra scrubbed. And scrubbed. And scrubbed. But the mud spot would not go away. "Oh no!" said Ezra. "It is stuck!" The mud spot seemed to smile. How sneaky!
"Clean Team—GO!" shouted Ducky. Sudsy made the biggest, fluffiest bubbles ever. Bristle tickled the mud spot—scrub-a-dub-dub! And they ALL sang together: "Scrubby dubby, mud go away! The Clean Team is here to save the day!" POP! The mud spot slid right off. "Hooray!" everyone cheered.
Ezra stood up, all sparkly clean. No more mud! Ducky wrapped him in a big, cozy towel. It was soft and warm, like a hug. "Thank you, Clean Team," said Ezra. "You made bath time SO fun!" Sudsy sang a little goodbye song. Bristle did one last happy bounce.
Ezra snuggled into bed with his favorite tree blanket. He opened a book. "Goodnight, Clean Team," he whispered. From the bathroom, he heard a tiny squeak, a soft little song, and one small bounce. Ezra smiled. Tomorrow, The Clean Team would be back. But now? Story time. The end.
