Liam loved to run fast. He loved to laugh loud. "Ha ha ha!" He ran and ran and ran. His feet went thump, thump, thump!
One day, Liam found a little gate. It was bright and shiny. And it was... giggling! "Hee hee hee!" said the gate. Liam pushed it open.
Wow! Everything was new! The hills were lime green. The sky was soft lavender. A little lemon-yellow path went crunch, crunch, crunch under his feet. "L-l-l!" said Liam. "Everything starts with L!"
Liam saw big, fluffy lions on the hill. Were they scary? No! They were lazy lions. They yawned big yawns. "L-l-l is for lion!" said Liam. "Hi, lazy lions!" The lions just smiled and stretched.
Then Liam saw a tree. But it did not have fruit. It had lollipops! Red ones. Purple ones. Yellow ones. Liam licked a big red lollipop. It was sweet and sticky! "L-l-l is for lollipop!" he said.
Whoooosh! Soft, swirly leaves floated down from the sky. They tickled his nose! "Hee hee!" Liam giggled. He leaped into a big pile. Crunch! Swoosh! "L-l-l is for leaves!" he laughed.
Liam ran down the lemon-yellow path. He leaped over a log. He laughed and laughed. "L-l-l is for leap! L-l-l is for laugh!" So many L words!
Then Liam heard something. It was soft and sad. "Sniff, sniff, sniff." He looked down. A little ladybug sat on a leaf. She was crying tiny tears.
"What is wrong, little ladybug?" asked Liam. "I am lost," she said in a tiny voice. "I cannot find my leaf pile home." Liam felt sad for her. He wanted to help.
"I know!" said Liam. "I saw a big leaf pile!" He picked up the ladybug very gently. He carried her back to the big, swirly leaf pile. "Is this your home?" "Yes! Yes!" said the ladybug. "Thank you!"
The ladybug gave Liam a tiny kiss on his nose. The lazy lions clapped their big paws. The lollipop trees wiggled with joy! Liam's heart felt warm and full. He knew the best L word of all.
Liam gave the ladybug a big, gentle hug. He giggled his loudest giggle. "L-l-l is for lion! L-l-l is for lollipop! L-l-l is for leaves! But the best L word?" He smiled so big. "L is for LOVE!"
