Ezra sat under his big, leafy tree. The grass was soft. The air was cool. He opened his book and smiled. "What a good day to read," he said.
Hop, hop, hop! A little frog jumped out of the fog. "Hello!" said the frog. "I am looking for a friend. Will you come jog with me through the fog?"
Ezra put down his book. "A jog in the fog?" he said. "That sounds fun!" He jumped up. And off they went! Jog, jog, jog through the fog, fog, fog!
"Woof! Woof!" Who was that? A happy dog ran up to them. The dog wagged her tail—swish, swish, swish! "Can I jog with you?" asked the dog. "Yes!" said Ezra. "Come jog in the fog!"
Jog, jog, jog through the fog, fog, fog! Ezra jogged. Frog hopped. Dog ran. Swish, swish went Dog's tail. Hop, hop went Frog's legs. The fog felt cool and smelled like wet flowers.
"Oink! Oink!" Who was that? A silly hog popped out from behind a mossy log. The hog did a wiggle. The hog did a jiggle. "Can I jog with you?" asked the hog. "Yes!" said Ezra. "Come jog in the fog!"
Jog, jog, jog through the fog, fog, fog! But wait—what was that? A big log sat on the path. It was bumpy and brown. Then suddenly… the log wiggled! The log jiggled! The log began to DANCE!
"A dancing log!" laughed Ezra. They all danced with the wiggly log. Ezra wiggled. Frog jiggled. Dog did a spin. Hog did a hop. The wiggly log bounced and bounced! Can you dance like the log?
But then the fog got thick. Very, very thick. Ezra could not see the path. Dog could not see the tree. "Oh no," said Frog. "Which way is home?" Everyone looked around. Everything was gray and misty.
Ezra thought and thought. "I know!" he said. "I can read!" He looked very carefully through the fog. And there it was—a little wooden sign! Ezra read the words: "Home → This Way." "Follow me!" said Ezra.
Jog, jog, jog through the fog, fog, fog! They all jogged together. Frog hopped. Dog ran. Hog wiggled. The wiggly log bounced along behind! And soon—there it was! The big, leafy tree! "We are home!" cheered Ezra.
Ezra sat back under his big, leafy tree. But this time, he was not alone. Frog snuggled on his left. Dog curled up on his right. Hog leaned in close. And the wiggly log? It sat very, very still. Ezra opened a brand-new book. "Once upon a time," he read. And everyone listened.
