Mei sat on a sunny hill with her sketchbook. She picked up a big red crayon. What would she draw today?

Mei holds up her sketchbook proudly, showing a big, bold, red letter R drawn in thick crayon strokes that fills the whole page of the sketchbook. She is smiling wide. In the background, the bright green hilltop with red flowers and a sunny sky.

Mei drew a big letter R. She made it red. She made it round. She made it really, really big. "There!" said Mei.

Mei stands on the hilltop looking surprised and delighted, her sketchbook open in her hands, as the big red letter R leaps off the page into the air, looking lively and playful with little motion lines around it. In the background, the sunny sky with puffy clouds that seem to giggle, and round rolling hills.

But wait — the R began to wiggle! It jiggled. It rumbled. Then — ROAR! — the big red R jumped right off the page! "R-r-r!" it said. "Let's have a RACE!"

Mei stands holding her red crayon and sketchbook while the rabbit hops out of the sketchbook pages, looking fuzzy and round with big floppy ears. "A race? I need friends to race with!" said Mei. She picked up her crayon and drew a fuzzy rabbit. The rabbit hopped off the page! "R-r-r!" said the rabbit, wiggling its fluffy tail.

Mei draws in her sketchbook as the robot rolls out of the pages, round and roly-poly with big round wheels, a shiny silver body, and a big red button on its chest. The rabbit stands beside Mei, and the big red letter R bounces nearby. In the background, the swirly rainbow road and crayon-colored rolling hills under the sunny sky.

Then Mei drew a rumbly robot. It had round wheels and a big red button. The robot rolled off the page! "R-r-r!" said the robot, rumbling and beeping.

Mei holds her sketchbook as the rainbow arcs gracefully off its pages, glowing with vivid stripes of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. The rabbit, the robot, and the big red letter R all stand around Mei, looking up at the rainbow in wonder. In the background, the big sunny sky with giggling puffy clouds and round green hills.

"One more!" said Mei. She drew a glowing rainbow. It arched off the page in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple! "R-r-r!" sang the rainbow, shimmering and bright. Can you say "R-r-r" too?

Mei runs joyfully down the swirly rainbow road alongside the rabbit hopping fast, the robot rolling on its round wheels, the rainbow rippling through the air above them, and the big red letter R bounding ahead. They all look excited and happy. In the background, crayon-colored round rolling hills dotted with red flowers under the big sunny sky.

"Ready? Set? R-R-RACE!" They all ran down the swirly rainbow road. The rabbit ran fast. The robot rumbled along. The rainbow rippled behind them. "R-r-r! R-r-r! R-r-r!"

Mei, the rabbit, the robot, the rainbow, and the big red letter R all stand at the edge of the swirly rainbow road where it meets a wide, wiggly blue river drawn in wavy crayon lines. They all look worried, peering at the water. In the background, more round rolling hills and the road continuing on the far side of the river.

But oh no! The road ran right into a river! A wide, wiggly, blue river. "How will we get across?" asked the rabbit. The robot beeped sadly. The rainbow drooped a little.

Mei stands at the river's edge with her sketchbook open, drawing with her red crayon, a big smile on her face. The rabbit, the robot, the big red letter R, and the rainbow watch her hopefully. In the background, the wide wiggly blue river and green hills on the far bank.

Mei thought really hard. She tapped her chin. Then she smiled a really big smile. "I know!" she said. She opened her sketchbook and drew something round.

Mei leads the way across the round red bridge that arcs over the wiggly blue river. The rabbit hops along behind her, the robot rolls on its round wheels, the big red letter R bounces across, and the rainbow glides overhead. They all look overjoyed. In the background, round green hills dotted with red flowers and a sunny sky with puffy clouds.

A round bridge! It rolled right off the page and stretched across the river. It was red and strong and just right. "Hooray!" they all cheered. Everyone rolled across together!

Mei stands at the finish line handing out big red ribbons. The rabbit wears a red ribbon around its neck, the robot has one on its antenna, the rainbow shimmers with a red ribbon tied at one end, and the big red letter R wears a ribbon like a sash. They are all smiling and celebrating. In the background, a banner reading 'FINISH' in crayon letters, with confetti and the swirly rainbow road behind them.

They crossed the finish line together! "R-R-R!" they all cheered, loud and proud. Mei gave every racer a big red ribbon. The rabbit, the robot, the rainbow, and the R all wore their ribbons and smiled.

Mei sits on the sunny green hilltop, hugging her closed sketchbook to her chest with a warm, happy smile. Tiny sparkles and faint crayon-colored swirls float around the sketchbook, hinting at the magic inside.
