This is Liam! Liam loves to run fast. He loves to laugh loud. Ha ha ha! Liam plays all day in his bright, cozy home.
Liam builds a big, tall tower. Up, up, up go the blocks! Red block. Blue block. Yellow block. "Look how tall!" says Liam.
Oh no! CRASH! The tower falls down. All the blocks tumble and scatter. Liam's tummy feels tight. His face gets hot. His feeling is SO big — like a balloon ready to pop!
But wait! Liam knows a magic trick. He takes a deep breath in. He counts: "One… two… three." Then he blows out — whooooosh! — like blowing on a puffy dandelion.
His big feeling floats up, up, up — like a soft, silly cloud. It drifts away into the sky. And Liam feels okay again! He builds a new tower. Even taller!
Liam runs outside to play. "Can I have the ball?" he asks his friend. But his friend says, "No, not yet." Uh oh. Liam's tummy feels tight. His face gets hot.
His feeling is SO big — like a balloon ready to pop! But Liam remembers his magic trick. He takes a deep breath in. He counts: "One… two… three." Then he blows out — whooooosh!
His big feeling floats up, up, up — like a soft, silly cloud. It drifts away over the wiggly trees. And Liam feels okay again! He waits, and soon his friend shares the ball. Hooray!
Now the sun is going down. The sky turns pink and orange. "Time for bed, Liam!" says his mama. But Liam is not done playing! His tummy feels tight. His face gets hot.
His feeling is SO big — like a balloon ready to pop! But Liam knows just what to do. He takes a deep breath in. He counts: "One… two… three." Then he blows out — whooooosh! — nice and slow.
His big feeling floats up, up, up — like a soft, silly cloud. It drifts away past the stars. And Liam feels okay again. Big feelings always get smaller. They always, always pass.
Now Liam is tucked in bed, warm and cozy. He takes one more deep breath. "One… two… three," he whispers. And he smiles. Because Liam knows — he will always be okay. Good night, Liam.
