Deep in an enchanted forest, where sunlight peeked through the tall trees, there lived a little elf named Flicker Sparkleaf. She had pointy ears and a big, curious smile. Flicker loved adventures more than anything in the whole world.
One sunny morning, Flicker skipped along the mossy ground. She hopped over tiny mushroom houses where forest sprites lived. She danced past colorful wildflowers that hummed soft, sweet melodies. "What a wonderful day for an adventure!" she said.
Then Flicker stopped. Right in the center of a little clearing, she saw something amazing. A bush sparkled and glowed with bright golden berries! Each berry shimmered like a tiny sun. "Oh my!" Flicker gasped. "Golden berries! I have never seen these before!"
Flicker picked one golden berry and popped it in her mouth. It tasted like honey and sunshine and warm summer rain all at once. "Yum!" she cried. She hugged the bush tight. "You are MY berry bush now. All mine! Every single berry!"
"Hello, Flicker!" called a cheerful voice. It was her friend Blossom Sprout! Blossom was a friendly little plant monster with leaves for arms and a flower on top of her head. She carried a small wooden watering can. Blossom loved gardening more than anything.
"Wow!" said Blossom, her big eyes growing wide. "Golden berries! They are so beautiful! Could I please have a few? I want to plant the seeds in my garden. Then new berry bushes could grow for everyone!" Flicker frowned. She held the bush tighter. "No way," she said. "These are all mine."
Blossom's pink daisy drooped a little. "Oh," she said softly. "That is okay." She turned to walk away. Flicker watched her friend go. The golden berries still sparkled, but now Flicker's tummy felt funny. Not a hungry funny. A sad funny.
Flicker looked at all the golden berries. There were so many! More than she could ever eat by herself. She thought about what her friend wanted to do. Blossom did not want to take the berries away. She wanted to plant them and grow even more! "Wait, Blossom!" Flicker called. "Please come back!"
Blossom turned around. Her pink daisy perked right back up. Flicker held out a handful of golden berries. "I am sorry," Flicker said. "When someone asks nicely, it feels good to share. Here — you can have these for your garden!" Blossom's eyes sparkled. "Thank you, Flicker! Let's plant them together!"
The two friends got to work. Blossom dug little holes in the soft, mossy ground with her leafy arms. Flicker dropped a golden berry seed into each one. Blossom poured water from her small wooden watering can. Pat, pat, pat — they covered each seed with dirt. "Grow, little seeds, grow!" they sang together.
Then something magical happened! Tiny green sprouts began to pop up from the ground. Pop! Pop! Pop! Each little sprout uncurled its leaves and reached for the sun. Soon, small golden buds began to glow on every sprout. New berry bushes were growing all around the glade!
Flicker and Blossom sat side by side, watching the new sprouts glow. "I thought sharing meant I would have less," Flicker said quietly. "But look — now there will be more golden berries than ever before." Blossom smiled and leaned her leafy arm against Flicker's shoulder. "That is what happens when you share," she said. "Good things grow." Flicker looked out at all the little sprouts stretching toward the light. She could not wait to see what tomorrow would bring.
