Princess Zoombella loved her royal garden. The dirt was soft and warm. Red tomatoes grew in a row. Orange carrots poked up from the ground. Purple grapes hung from twisty vines. And little green peas hid inside their pods. "What a beautiful day to grow things!" said Princess Zoombella.
WHOOOOSH! Something zoomed down from the sky. It was her silly friend Zibloo! His little spaceship landed right between the tomatoes and the carrots. "Hello, Princess!" said Zibloo. His big round eyes looked all around. "What are all these squishy, bumpy, funny things?"
"This is food!" said Princess Zoombella. "It grows right here in the dirt. You eat it, and it makes your body strong and happy!" Zibloo wiggled his antennae. He sniffed a big red tomato. It smelled sweet and sunny. "I have never tried Earth food," he said in a tiny voice. "What if I do not like it?"
Princess Zoombella smiled. "That is okay! Trying new food is brave. You can take one tiny bite. If you do not like it, you can try something else!" She picked a red tomato. It was round and smooth and warm from the sun. "Red foods help your heart feel strong," she said. Zibloo took one tiny bite. "Squishy!" he giggled.
Next, they pulled up an orange carrot. SNAP! It came right out of the soft dirt. "Orange foods help your eyes see far," said Princess Zoombella. Zibloo crunched the carrot. CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH! "Loud!" laughed Zibloo. "And sweet!" Up above, the puffy clouds giggled in the wind. Can you crunch like a carrot? CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH!
They found a yellow banana on the big wooden table. "Someone left us a present!" said Princess Zoombella. "Yellow foods give you energy to run and jump and play!" Zibloo peeled the banana. He took a big, smooshy bite. "Soft! And yummy!" he said. His antennae wiggled with joy.
Princess Zoombella picked some little green peas. POP POP POP went the pods! "Green foods help your whole body grow big and tall," she said. Zibloo popped a pea into his mouth. "Tiny but yummy!" he said. "I like the pop!" They popped peas together. POP POP POP! What color have we found so far? Red, orange, yellow, green!
Then Princess Zoombella found a bush full of blueberries. They were small and round and dark blue. "Blue foods help your brain think and remember!" she said. She put one little blueberry in Zibloo's hand. He looked at it. He sniffed it. He popped it in his mouth. Suddenly — Zibloo's antennae lit up bright, like two tiny stars!
"My antennae! They are like STARS!" cheered Zibloo. He danced around the garden. Princess Zoombella laughed and laughed. They picked a bunch of purple grapes from the twisty vine. "Purple foods help your body heal bumps and scrapes," she said. Zibloo ate a grape. "Juicy!" POP! Now they had every color of the rainbow. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple!
"We should share!" said Princess Zoombella. "Food tastes even better with friends." They set the big wooden table. They put out all the rainbow colors. Red tomatoes. Orange carrots. A yellow banana. Green peas. Blue blueberries. Purple grapes. "Come and eat!" called Zibloo. The birds came. The ladybugs came. Even the flowers leaned in close!
Everyone ate together. CRUNCH went the carrots. POP went the peas. SMOOSH went the blueberries. The birds chirped. The bugs hummed. The puffy clouds giggled in the wind. Every belly felt full. Every heart felt happy. Sharing a meal together — that was the best part of all.
The sun began to set. The sky turned pink and gold. One bright star twinkled above the garden. Zibloo pointed up. "That is my favorite star," he whispered. Princess Zoombella leaned close. "Zibloo, do you think colorful foods grow on your planet too?" Zibloo's antennae glowed softly. "Maybe," he said. "Let us find out tomorrow." And they sat together, side by side, full of good food and big dreams.
