The Magical Cabbage Twins
by

A story about
for your 3rd Grader.

Once upon a time in a far away land lived a little gnome couple who live loved working in their garden every day. Every morning they would put their boots on and head to the garden to see how much their vegetables have grown. One day they noticed that the cabbages were much bigger than usual and they were curled up like a blanket as if hiding something underneath.

As Henry and Harriet gnome looked inside the cabbage they discovered two tiny babies inside looking up at Henry and Harriet with their sweet baby faces. The gnome couple was surprised but delighted. They decided to name the babies Lily and Leo and took them into their cozy little home nestled between the much-loved garden creatures.

Harriet quickly knitted tiny hats for the babies using the softest spider silk, while Henry dashed to inform the wise old owl, who might have answers about the mysterious cabbage babies.

Baby Lily and Leo were hungry so they began to cry as Harriet fixed them both a bottles she sang them a sweet lullaby. As Harriet sang her song softly Lily and Leo finished their bottles and stopped crying. Just as the babies were drifting off to sleep, a magical shimmer swept through the air like sparkling dust, and slowly, Lily and Leo began to giggle and glow! Harriet gasped, "Oh my, Henry! Our cabbage babies are magical!"

Just then, the wise old owl flew in through the window, attracted by the shimmer, and said, "These babies are destined for greatness, for they hold the magic of nature within. You must teach them the ways of the garden and protect them."

The following morning, Henry and Harriet decided to start teaching Lily and Leo about the wonders of the garden. They introduced the babies to the resident ladybugs and bees, and as the babies giggled, the flowers seemed to bloom even more vibrantly, revealing the babies’ magical influence on nature.

While tending to the garden, the gnome couple discovered a hidden door beneath the large cabbages, which led to a magical underground world, where the origin of Lily and Leo could possibly be uncovered.

Instead of immediately entering the hidden door, Henry and Harriet prepared by gathering supplies and calling upon their garden friends, who knew tales of the magical underground world. They planned an adventurous journey to the world below, with the babies tucked safely in carriers on their backs.
