A story about Easter
for your Baby
Good morning, sunshine! It is spring! The flowers are blooming — pink, yellow, and purple. The bees go buzz, buzz, buzz. And look! Little eggs are hiding in the garden. Can you find them?
King Doodle Bum loves chocolate. He loves it SO much! Today is Easter, and Easter means one thing… an egg hunt! "Let's go find eggs!" says the King. "Hooray!"
But wait — who is that? "Bawk bawk bawk! La la laaa!" It is Cluckster! She is a big white chicken, and she LOVES to sing. "I will help you find eggs!" she sings. "Let's go, let's go, let's GO!"
They look behind a bush. What do they see? A blue egg! It is round and smooth and shiny blue. "Ooooh!" says King Doodle Bum. "One egg! One blue egg!" Cluckster sings, "Blue egg, blue egg, hip hooray!"
They look under a big green leaf. What do they see? A pink egg! It is round and smooth and shiny pink. "Two eggs!" says the King. Cluckster flaps her wings and sings, "Pink egg, pink egg, hip hooray!"
They look beside the babbling brook. Splish, splash! What do they see? A yellow egg! It is round and smooth and shiny yellow. "Three eggs!" says King Doodle Bum. Cluckster sings, "Yellow egg, yellow egg, hip hooray!"
Then King Doodle Bum peeks deep, deep under a big thorny bush. And there it is. A BIG golden egg! It is wrapped in shiny gold paper. It is a chocolate egg! The biggest one of all! "CHOCOLATE!" shouts the King.
King Doodle Bum hugs the big golden egg tight. "Mine, mine, mine!" he says. "ALL mine!" He does not want to share. Not one little bit. Cluckster looks at the King. Her feathers droop. She sings a sad, quiet song. "No egg for me… no egg for me…"
King Doodle Bum stops. He hears the sad song. He looks at Cluckster. He looks at the big golden egg. His tummy says, "Eat it all!" But his heart says, "Share it." When you have something yummy, it is always nicer to share. Even just a little bit! "Cluckster," he says softly. "Let's share."
CRACK! They break the big golden egg together. Inside is the most yummy chocolate! King Doodle Bum takes a piece. Cluckster takes a piece. "Mmmmm!" says the King. Cluckster sings, "Yum yum yum, chocolate in my tum!" Sharing makes it taste even sweeter.
Then they hear a tiny sound. Tap, tap, tap! Crack, crack, crack! Little baby chicks! Fluffy and yellow, pecking out of their shells. "New babies!" whispers the King. "Hello, little ones!" sings Cluckster. Spring brings new friends. New life. New beginnings.
King Doodle Bum and Cluckster sit side by side in the warm sunshine. The baby chicks peep and tumble in the grass. There will be more sunny days. More flowers. More songs to sing. And next year? More eggs to find and more chocolate to share. Spring is just getting started.
