Good morning, little one! The sun is up. The kitchen is warm. Can you smell something yummy? Today is a cooking day!
Calamity Kate has an idea. "Let's make soup!" she says. "Big, warm, yummy soup for all our friends!" She gets a big round pot. Clang, clang!
Whoooosh! Here comes Glimmer Puff! She floats in through the window, sparkling and spinning. "Ooh, soup! I love soup! Can I help?" she asks. "Yes!" says Kate. "We cook together!"
First, they add water. Splish, splash! Then carrots. Orange carrots! Then potatoes. Round potatoes! One by one, into the pot. Can you count? One... two... three!
Now it is time to stir! Kate picks up a big wooden spoon. She stirs fast. Faster! FASTER! Splish! Splash! SPLOOOSH! Oh no! Soup is everywhere!
Glimmer Puff giggles. "Hee hee hee!" She floats over the splashy mess. "Too fast, Kate! Too fast!" she says. "When we go slow, good things happen. Stir gentle. Nice and easy."
Kate smiles. "You are right!" she says. They clean up the mess together. Wipe, wipe, wipe. Helping is nice! Then they start again. Slow and easy this time.
Kate stirs slow. Round and round and round. Glimmer Puff adds a pinch of salt. Sparkle, sparkle! The soup bubbles. Bubble, bubble, bubble. It smells so good!
The soup is ready! Kate fills up little bowls. One, two, three, four, five bowls! One for every friend. "Time to share!" says Kate.
Kate and Glimmer Puff carry the bowls to the big round table. Their friends come in from the barn. Clip, clop! Baa, baa! Cluck, cluck! Everyone is here!
Everyone sits around the table. They eat the warm soup together. Mmmm! Yum, yum, yum! Glimmer Puff glows extra bright. "Food tastes best," she says, "when you share it with the ones you love."
Kate looks out the window at the setting sun. The hills are soft and pink. "Tomorrow," she whispers, "we will cook something new." Glimmer Puff sparkles. What will they make next, little one?
