Zippy Zapata loved puzzles more than anything in the world. Every morning, he ran to his wizard school with a big smile. He could not wait to see what new things he would learn today!
Inside the classroom, colorful books floated gently in the air. Sparkly potion bottles sat on wooden shelves. Zippy sat down at the big round table with his classmates. "Good morning, everyone!" said their teacher.
Their teacher set something special on the big round table. It was a golden box with tiny stars carved into the lid. "Today, we have a magic puzzle!" she said. "The pieces glow when you put them together." Zippy's eyes grew wide.
Zippy grabbed the golden box and pulled it close. "I love puzzles!" he said. "I want to do this one all by myself!" He scooped up every glowing piece and spread them out in front of him. He did not leave any pieces for anyone else.
His friend Lina reached her hand out. "May I try a piece, Zippy?" she asked softly. "No!" said Zippy. "These are all mine!" Lina pulled her hand back. Her shoulders drooped, and she looked down at the table.
Zippy tried to snap two puzzle pieces together. Click! But something was wrong. The pieces did not glow. He tried again. Click, click, click! Nothing happened. The sparkle was gone. The colors looked dull and gray.
"Why won't they work?" Zippy asked. He felt confused and a little upset. Their teacher walked over and knelt beside him. "Magic puzzles need something special," she said gently. "They need more than one person. They need sharing."
Zippy looked at Lina. She was sitting quietly with no pieces to play with. His tummy felt funny. He knew that feeling. It was the feeling you get when you know you could be kinder. He took a deep breath.
Zippy picked up a handful of puzzle pieces and walked over to Lina. "Would you like to try?" he asked. Lina looked up. A small smile spread across her face. "Really?" she said. "Yes!" said Zippy. "Let's do it together!"
Lina took a piece and — POP! It started to glow bright pink! Zippy snapped his piece next to hers and — FLASH! It glowed blue! They took turns, one piece at a time. Pink, blue, green, gold! Every piece they shared lit up like a tiny star.
Soon, all the classmates joined in. They passed pieces around the big round table and took turns adding to the puzzle. When the last piece clicked into place, the whole puzzle floated up off the table! It turned into a glowing picture of a dragon made of rainbows.
Zippy and Lina stood side by side, watching the rainbow dragon shimmer above them. "That was way more fun together," Zippy whispered. Lina nodded. Zippy smiled and thought about tomorrow. He wondered what else might feel like magic if he just remembered to ask, "Would you like to try?"
